Chris Rock’s wife Malaak Compton ‘is demanding a large chunk of his $70m fortune as prenup on 20 year marriage has expired’
- The couple wed in 1996 with a prenup in place but it has since expired
- Malaak is ‘seeking a large portion of the comedian’s $70m fortune’
- Together the couple has two children, Lola Simone, 13, and Zahra, 11
Chris Rock filed for divorce from wife Malaak Compton-Rock in December.
On Monday the New York Post – which claims to have seen the couple’s divorce filing – revealed the 46-year-old mother-of-two is seeking a large chunk of the 50-year-old actor’s estimated $70m fortune.
It was also noted that their prenup had expired as they had been married for 20 years prior to the filing.
And the publication reports that divorce papers reveal Malaak is demanding a large portion of Chris’s $70 million fortune so that she can maintain her lifestyle.
Malaak spends most of her time caring for the couple’s children – 13-year-old Lola Simone and 11-year-old Zahra Savannah.
The family lives in an upscale home in Alpine, New Jersey, with neighbors including singer Mary J. Blige and Yankee pitcher CC Sabathia.
A filing in Bergen County court – that also detailed the expired prenup – shows that the couple have already agreed to 50-50 custody of their children.
The court filings also say that Malaak deserves a payout ‘commensurate with the marital standard of living’ because of all of her child-rearing and charitable endeavors.
The mother-of-two runs a group called The Angel Rock Project, and spends her free time on the charity circuit.
In 2008 she appeared as a judge on the ABC reality show Oprah’s Big Give, starring alongside actress Vivica A. Fox and Sopranos star Lorraine Bracco.
Previously Malaak was working in public relations, though court papers say she gave up her career to be a full-time mom.
Chris and Malaak married in 1996 after the pair met at the Essence Awards.
The actor filed for divorce in December 2014 amid rumors he was dating actress Rosario Dawson, who co-starred with him in Top Five, which he also directed.
Chris’ rep strongly denied claims he had anything more than a working relationship with Rosario.
The divorce had already gotten messy days after it was announced in December, as documents obtained by TMZ saw Chris complaining that his ex was preventing him from seeing his daughters. He asked for shared legal and physical custody of the girls.
