Help – My Homepage Keeps Getting Hijacked

By  |

When I restart my computer and open my browsers, my homepage has been hijacked from Google to newversionchecker.com. When I open my browser options to look at my Homepage settings, it says http://www.newversionchecker.com/?redr=w… Once I change it back to Google, it works fine until I shut down or restart my computer. It happens in both Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer. I ran my Norton to try to cure the problem but it didn't pick up on anything. Any suggestions? This has been going on for a month now.

Solution:

  1. Copy and paste in your browser: about:config
  2. In the filter bar paste: newversionchecker.com
  3. Change value to your prefered homepage

Solution 2

  1. Type in the url bar: about:config
  2. browser.startup.homepage
  3. right-click
  4. lock
