Jennifer Hudson throws charity event with her sister Julia to honour late nephew who was killed in brutal gun attack
Every year since the death of her seven-year-old nephew, Jennifer Hudson has been participating in a charity event to honour his life.
The singer and her sister Julia created the Julian D. King Gift Foundation in 2008, which gives thousands of children each year school supplies on August 14, the anniversary of the boy’s birthday.
And on Friday the 32-year-old hosted the annual event in Chicago with her sibling, where they donated thousands of knapsacks filled with supplies to needy children.
The pair of sisters wore matching black T-shirts emblazoned with the logo of their foundation as they handed out the gift packs.
Jennifer could be seen smiling as she handed youngsters notebooks and other supplies in a packed auditorium.
‘Our goal each year is very simple,’ said Jennifer. ‘We want these kids to know we are here for them and paying attention to their needs. If one child walks away with that feeling, then we’ve been successful.
