NFL Wide Receiver Brad Smith makes a splash during New York Fashion Week with the Success of #DesignforBradSmith Competition
Philadelphia Eagles Wide Receiver and Men’s Health contributor Brad Smith marked the success of his first nationwide emerging menswear designer competition (http://designforbradsmith.com/) in true NY fashion with a flurry of appearances culminating in an exclusive VIP reception at The Ainsworth located on West 26th.
A professional film crew documented the days events, following Brad and the 2014 winning designer, Kassie Haji, a native of northern Iran and graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design, Columbus, OH throughout Manhattan. Stops included an interview at SI: Now where Smith discussed sports, fashion and the design competition winner. Next, the pair headed to Lincoln Center for the Mercedes-Benz NAUTICA show where both wore Google Glass to capture the experience, fusing fashion & technology for an upcoming documentary being produced by Destined for Success Management.
Later that evening, fashion executives and media gathered at the exclusive Windsor Custom for press interviews with Brad & Kassie. Windsor Custom, the event co-sponsor, is an appointment-only Men’s Custom Clothing Living Room nestled beneath The Ainsworth. Media also had the opportunity to interview and meet the #DesignforBradSmith Celebrity judges in attendance, Brian Boye, Men’s Health, Eman Awuro, Intricate Concepts, Rita Kahn, StyleTV, George Robles, Universal Music Group & Trukfit and Jacqueline Quinn, Creative Director Sara Emanuel.
Event co-sponsor The Ainsworth provided a lavish spread of appetizers featuring inspired twists on American classics like pigs in a blanket, mini margherita pizzas, spring rolls. Specialty cocktails were provided courtesy of Svedka Vodka.

During media interviews, Brad discussed Kassie Haji’s design aesthetic and her upcoming one-month internship with Intricate Concepts in New York City where she has a chance to score a $50,000 production deal. Haji has also received a six-month fashion brand management representation with The Lane Style House. Later this spring, she will present her portfolio to luxury fashion retail buyers in preparation for her official collection debut during September NYFW 2014.
