Hours after CSKA Moscow were punished for their fans' racist chanting, some Spartak Moscow fans unveiled a swastika banner during their Russian Cup tie at Shinnik.

With the 2018 World Cup in Russia less than five years away, backward behaviour continues to blight Russian society and sport.

CSKA will play their next Champions League home game in a partially closed stadium after their fans were found guilty of racist behaviour by Uefa.

The European governing body has punished the Russian club after supporters were deemed to have directed monkey chants at Manchester City's Yaya Touré during last week's encounter at the Arena Khimki.

Touré complained during and after the game that he had been subjected to abuse and, despite strong denials from CSKA that this occurred, UEFA has backed the midfielder's version of events.

Section D of the stadium – from where the offensive chants emanated – will now be closed for the visit of Bayern Munich on November 27.
