UACE results released, show slight improvement
Performance in last year’s Ugandan Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) improved slightly, statistics from results released today in Kampala show: 99.3 per cent of the candidates qualified for the UACE award compared to 99.2 per cent in 2011.
A lower failure rate was also registered in 2012 compared to 2011.
Improvement in performance at principle level passes was registered in History, Entrepreneurship, Geography, Literature, Chemistry and Biology. However performance in Economics, CRE, Islam Math, Physics and Agriculture dropped. This shows that Arts subjects were better performed than Sciences.
However, the majority of candidates were arts students.
Nearly 50% of the students who did sciences were unable to obtain the principle level pass.
Results for 404 candidates were withheld.
A total of 111,456 students sat the 2012 UACE examinations compared to 103,760 candidates in 2011. 42,341 of these students were female.
