Uganda: “The naked corruption in immigration department” Prof George W. Kanyeihamba

By  |

I have been reliably informed that the mention of my name and those who expose and fight against corruption and abuse of office are bad news amongst the corrupt and wrong-doers in the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

I have chosen to call corruption in the Uganda Citizenship and Immigration Control Board naked because everyone, including foreigners, knows about it. Many people have been victims of or forced to accept corruption if they are to have their pressing needs catered for.

The Prime Minister, senior ministers and public servants know about it. Some of them benefit through it. Others do not care whether it exists or damages the interests of Uganda.

Our beliefs, campaigns and dialogues against those who condone or derive benefits from corruption and abuse of office are resented or hated by them. We have been identified as the enemies of the corrupt and we should be silenced or neutralised.
